Not everyone wants to be an internet millionaire and many people in our age group don’t actually want to put in the kind of effort needed to earn a living wage. We actually want to enjoy our retirement or simply make a few extra pounds to help with the household bills or to save for some of life’s little extras. An extra £50 or £100 a week is very welcome and frequently represents a satisfactory return for the small amount of work involved.
Okay, so how do we do this? In a nutshell, we buy small items from Pound World and then we re-sell them on eBay. Simple!
Pound World as a business concept works because they stock several items that look like they are worth far more than a pound alongside hundreds of lines that are worth far less. Their average customer buys several items on impulse because “It’s only a pound.” If you have good rummage around in the shop in the less obvious areas, you can find many attractive items that will sell easily on eBay for significantly more than your one pound investment. Keep a special lookout for toys, craft supplies, mobile phone accessories, computer accessories, Christmas decorations, tool sets and gift items.
eBay is the best place to sell your Pound World items simply because most buyers on eBay think that they’re getting a bargain or because it is just more convenient. If you live in the country you might be miles away from a Pound World and therefore quite happy to pay a bit over the odds for certain items.
There is one other great add-on to this income generating idea and that’s postage and packing. Imagine that you bought something for a pound and sold it on eBay for £5 plus say £1.99 for postage and packing. In all likelihood the postage and packing charge will actually cover your total outlay (including the purchase price) and therefore the £5 you get is pure profit! How many businesses do you know where the profit margin is a factor of 5? The actual cash amounts might be small, but your profit percentage is enormous.
I’m sure you will see how easily and quickly you could make £50 or £100 a week from just one visit to Pound World. This is also a scalable business and if you wanted to turn it into a full-time occupation you could research wholesale suppliers and buy items in bulk that would be even cheaper than Pond World, but the latter is a good place to start. Try it, you have almost nothing to lose.
